The work of investigating a case is at the heart of PI. When there is no DNA evidence, often the number one priority is to discover new evidence of innocence or of someone else having committed the crime. Do we need professionals? Yes. Do we need people with no previous experience, but are willing to learn? Yes, yes! Sometimes professional expertise is needed. Other times, it is a matter of finding someone to do it, and their background makes little difference. Currently our focus is mainly on Michigan, but we are not restricted to it and some work can be done via technology by people from any location.

In a best case scenario, we can have several volunteers who work in consultation with a trained investigator. This maximises her/his time and gives our volunteers confidence they are approaching the challenge in the right way.
